He was blonde, had green eyes and the most amazing car. It didn’t matter it was a plastic toy car and he would always cry if the other kids were playing with it, but I still fancied him. He was my first crush.
We were 6 years old and we would always play in the courtyard of the kindergarten if the weather permitted it. One of the games involved walking in a line, holding the waist of the person in front of us and singing.
My blonde crush was holding my waist and during the song he got close and whispered in my ear “Don’t be afraid, if you fall I’ll catch you”. Then he kissed me on the cheek. I was in seventh heaven! We were basically in a relationship, and I was ready to marry him and have his kids.
We scheduled a date for that afternoon in front of my building – a play date obviously – and he never showed up. That made for a long one-day relationship! We lost touch after kindergarten, and he soon got to be replaced by new school crushes.
